A Day of Rest….

So today is going to be a day of rest for both Laci and I. Don’t want to burn ourselves out right away. As I’m writting this she’s passed out cold on my bed. Yesterday I was down a pound to 161 so I’m headed in the right direction. Got a great work out at work last night….Up and down ladders for 2 hours is a pretty decent leg work out, right?

My cousins did really well with there turkey’s yesterday. My oldest cousin got Grand Champion and his little brother got first place with his bird (but according to him his bird was bigger overall than the Grand Champion bird AKA his brothers bird.) The turkey’s were sold at the meat animal sale and they both did VERY well there too. My mom won the overall photography award with her picture of my grandpa’s former St. Bernard Howard (he passed away this past winter). She’s really happy about that and we’re really happy overall with the results that we’ve gotten being this is our first year. The results post will probably be posted early Wednesday morning (while my mom is sleeping so I can off load the pictures on to her computer.)

The donkey race is today! My aunt is riding in it as Elvis! If she comes in 1st or 2nd place she wins $100 for her 4-h group and best costume wins $50 for the 4-h group. I’ll take pictures of the costume too.

Have a great Labor Day!

So I did a little tiny workout

Laci and I went on a 30 minute walk this morning. She was panting harder than I was so I guess we’re headed in the right direction. After we came back from our walk I put her in the house and went to the park across the street from our house to do a little mini workout complete with an attempt at chinups on the monkey bars (our play equipment is designed for smaller kids not 5’5″ adultish people). I also took my measurements….Not so happy about them but they can and will change! So I guess day 2 is in the books. I’ll “see” you all later!

Work last night

Where do I start? Do I start with my brother’s fiancee comitting to the turn at the light in front of our store and then stopping in the middle of the intersection and I dang near rear ended her? She’s entirely WAY to cautious when it comes to driving and is going to cause an accident yet. I made it to work in one piece and pulled our manual pulls for a little over 3 hours before our autofills dropped (the manuals are pulls that we drop and are slightly smaller than the autofills which the computer system drops.). Then our store released 1,000+ college students loose in our store for 2 hours and you couldn’t hear yourself think because it was so loud in there. The whole event wasn’t planned very well. We were told we wouldn’t be taking a truck….we took a truck. Nobody knew what was really going on at all…we were pretty much flying by the seat of our pants during this whole debacle. I left at 5 which was the end of my 10 hour shift so I went home and I’ve been working on my blog since I got home. Basically, work last night really wasn’t worth getting out of bed for.

Kicking My Own A$$ Saturday Edition

Ok, so last night at work I walked 14,949 steps or 11.95 miles according to my pedometer. Pretty good if you ask me! The bad part is I fell prey to McDonalds last night and I think I’m headed in the wrong direction on the scale! My left knee is bugging me but I’m still going to go out and take my walk for today. See I’m headed in the right direction! Baby steps! I want to thank everybody who commented on the original “Kicking My Own A$$” post. I really appreciate all the suggestions, advice, links, and support. So I’ve gotten some excellent advice/suggestions I’m going to start coming up with a set of goals. So here’s the first few:

1. I’m not going to be scale “dependent.” I had this problem every other time I’ve tried to lose the weight. I wouldn’t see a change in the numbers and I’d get discouraged and quit.

2. Portion control, portion control, portion control!

3. I’m going to try and keep the “excuses” to a minimum. Excuses don’t lose weight.

4. I’m going to try to get at least one walk in a day.

5. I’m slowly going to wean myself off of soda. I was completely weaned off of caffeine for awhile but know it just needs to go all together.

So that’s what I know for now.

Laci’s mad at me….

She’s mad at me again. Apparently, she thought that our walk was tooooo long, I on the other hand was feeling sorry for her and cut it short. I can hardly wait until we’re both up to the same speed and we can go for longer walks. Maybe one day we’ll even jog together, who knows. She’s also mad at me because the dew’s still on and she doesn’t like to get wet in any way, shape, or form. Know I have a soggy Cocker Spaniel sprawled across my bed. Well I’d better go make myself some dinner so I can go to bed….Have to be to work early tonight….But the upside is if I go in early I can leave early.

Kicking my own A$$

I’ve been getting kinda lax in my “quest” to lose “some” weight. Pretty much I’ve gone completely backwards and all but completely fallen off of the wagon all together. I’ve decided that I want to lose “some” of this weight because quite frankly it’s just not healthy for me to be carrying it around. I’ve tried in the past to maintain a blog specifically for my weight loss but found that I could not maintain multiple blogs at the same time so I’ve decide that I’m going to post here on Paradise my ongoing struggle to get some of this weight off. Some of my goals are to shed 25 pounds by my 25th birthday on the 21st of February, live a healthier lifestyle, learn to not be so “couch potatoish” and be more confident with my body. I weighed myself this morning and I was a whopping 164 pounds….If I hit my 25 pound goal dead on my target weight is 139 pounds. Is anyone else out there trying to shed some pounds, cause I could really use a/some bloggy workout buddies? Can anyone out there give me some advice/suggestions on the “easiest” (and I use that term VERY loosely) way to shed pounds without any expensive exercise equipment or a gym membership? I’d really appreciate it.

Friday’s Blessings

Another week has come and gone making it Friday again, and Fridays here at Paradise is my day to post what I’m thankful for over the course of the week. My friend from work and I seem to be slowly but surely working out our differences which I’m extremely thankful for. Outside of my blogging buddies, Ashley, Jeanie, Jessi and her I don’t have a whole bunch of friends out there. This whole deal has been kind of shakey on my confidence also. It seems like every move I’ve been making I’ve ended up second guessing….That part of this whole ordeal I am NOT so thankful for.

I’m extremely thankful that our “Back to College” season is almost over at work. This year we’ve been extremely understaffed, which has lead to short tempers, sore bodies, and all sorts of generally unhappy things. I’ve been with the company for 2 years and this is the worst it’s ever been since I was hired. At first they couldn’t get anybody to apply for overnights, then they got picky about who they hired and know they are just giving us pretty much whatever they can find. Which for the most part hasn’t been so bad, but there are some in the last bunch that came in that are not so good. Christmas isn’t even as bad as it’s been for us the past few weeks.

My mom took a few days off of work (it ends up being a week with Labor Day thrown in) for the fair and just to recharge her batteries. We don’t get to do stuff near as often as we like to anymore so the fair and hanging out the last couple of days have been a real bonding experience for us. So I guess we’re making the fair an annual thing.

My “other little brother” Chris is home from Hawaii. He’s in the military and he’s been stationed in Hawaii for about a year now. He’s home until September 12 so we’ve all got a little time “bond” before he heads back to California to finish training. In November his unit is being sent to Kuwait and then to Iraq around Christmas time so we’re going to be worrying here at home for a while.

I’m one week away from a most definately earned 10 days off. I can hardly wait to be human again! I can hardly wait to do absolutely NOTHING too!

So I guess it’s been a pretty good week around here for me. How about you? What are you thankful for this week?

Updating….

I’m in the process of updating my blog and giving it a little bit of an overhaul. Please bear with me. If I forget to add you please leave me a comment or drop me an e-mail and I’ll add you back in.

Weird dog and more fair stuff

Does anyone else out there have a dog that sleeps on there back with their legs straight up in the air? Laci does that and if she gets to snoring your nap is caput….She snores extra super loud.

In other news…. Our exhibits are at the fair and we can find out how well we did this evening. Judging starts at 10 this morning and it’s usually done by the time that the fair opens at 5. My cousins showed ag-diorama’s this year and the judge was extremely mean to them. She had not a nice thing to say about either of their displays. One comment that she made to pretty much everybody was “you must have the only flat farm in Iowa County.” She was trying to make a point but she did it VERY rudely. They are also showing in woodworking, firearms sports, latchhook, and poultry….They even have two Turkeys that are going into the meat sale on Saturday night. My aunt is in riding in the donkey race on Sunday. If she wins 1st or 2nd she gets $100 for her 4-H group. They also have stuff entered in the open show so that they could get the pass for the whole fair, but I can’t remember what everybody has entered right now. If she has the most interesting costume she gets another $50 for her 4-H group. So in addition to photo’s of how my mom and I did there will be photo’s of how the boys, my aunt, uncle, and my mom and I did.

P.S. My calendar came yesterday! 2009 is going to be a great year!

It’s Thundering!

Maybe we’ll get some much needed rain along with it?!?!? It’s RAINING!!! Yes!
