Because I HATE having to explain myself…..

I have decided that since I HATE having to explain myself to the blogging world as a whole about my nickname “BITRCountryGirl” that I am going back to blogger.  I have been considering this move for a little while since a bunch of people told me in their comments that they thought that I was “bitter” instead of “bitr” and everytime I wanted to leave a comment on certain blogs that I visit I had to login to do so, which is SUPER frustrating by the way.  For those who have been following for a while I apologize and can totally understand if you choose to quit following my blog.  I’m just not happy with a lot of things about my current blog….That I can’t change certain things about my current blog….so I’m going to where I CAN change things as I feel they need to be changed.

Taking an extended Blogging Break

Here I was all excited about my upcoming giveaway and then my parents drop a FUCKING HUGE ASS bomb on me…..This afternoon we’re putting Shawna to sleep….that was after my father had already left for work and was giggling about the fact that “she” (who turned out to be Shawna) looks at my mom with her head cocked to one side.  Not nowing who they were talking about I told my dad that he was in trouble when my mom told him it wasn’t funny.  I guess he’s finally getting his wish….he told me a couple weeks ago that he thought she should be put down before we get to far into this winter.  So now I’ve been crying for over an hour, I’m pissed as fucking hell at the whole world and I just want this day to have never happened.

So I will be taking an extended blogging vacation to figure some things out in my head.  I may be back here at this address or I may be back at blogger….God only knows I can never seem to make up my mind.  The only thing about this blog that I don’t like is that people out there in the blogging world see my “handle” bitrcountrygirl and actually think that I am bitter….which I’m not.  Where ever I end up at I’ll come find all my blogging pals again.

More Giveaway information….

I posted yesterday that I would post the links to the posts that I used to come up with the questions for my giveaway but because I used ALMOST ALL of my posts/pages I have decided instead to post the links to the posts/pages that I DID NOT use.    I’ve also come up with a list of my favorite movies already that I will be posting later on (I have to narrow the selections down a little bit) along with summaries of the movies as well.  Also in the prize pack there will probably (ok, so there really is no probably about it….there will be) some “surprise” items to go along with the “BITRCountryGirl’s Movie Collection.”

I am going to call this giveaway “Veg like the BITRCountryGirl” giveaway.  So here is what you need to know about the giveaway:

1. I am in the process of putting together a list of questions….the answers will come out of some post on my blog, somewhere (I will post the links to the posts that I use at a later date as well as the questions, let’s put it this way….NO POST/PAGE is off limits).

2. The person who answers the most correctly (you’ll have to e-mail me your answers) will win the prize pack.

3. What is the prize pack, you ask?  Well the prize is your own personal copy of several of my all time favorite movies (titles and summaries will also be posted later.)

4. I just wanted to put this information out there right away so y’all can start looking for the giveaway!

Recipe for the day and a GIVEAWAY in the works!

Secret Kiss Cookies

Ingredients:

1 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 cup chopped pecans
sifted powdered sugar
1 pkg. Hershey Kisses, foil removed

Directions:

Cream butter, sugar and vanilla with 1 Tbsp. water. Stir in flour and nuts; mix well. Shape dough around Hershey Kisses forming a ball. Place cookies on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Cool on rack; roll in powdered sugar. Makes about 60 cookies.

This is the point where I’m supposed to tell you how great my weekend was…

But I’m not going to because my weekend sucked a$$. I guess the only good thing that came out of it was that I got out of bed to help my team be successful in our first night with our store’s holiday hours. That’s about it. That’s the only good highlight from my weekend and that pretty much bites. I’ve been running back over the weekend as a whole in my mind and I can not come up with anything else good that has happend and that is the saddest part of all. So I’m just going to check out some blogs, have a couple brewski’s and go to bed and hope that tonight is a heck of a lot better than the last three nights have been.

Vietnam Veteran

When I was in high school I was a member of our high school’s FFA chapter. Every other year we would go to the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky (It’s in Indianapolis now). Well the first year that I went one of the guest speakers was a Vietnam veteran who was SEVERLY wounded. He was disfigured and he only had a few fingers and a couple of nubs left on both of his hands as a result of a bomb going off near him in battle.

 

 

He said that while he was lying in his hospital bed he was thinking to himself that it would have been better off for everyone back home if he had just died in the explosion. He had his mind set that his wife would no longer love him due to his disfigurment and all of his battle scars. He didn’t want to be dependant on anyone just to maintain a “normal” life and he knew he would have to if he made it home. So as he told us, he made the decision to pull out the IV that was basically keeping him alive. As he was lying there waiting to die, he started to get really hungry. It had turned out that he had pulled out his feeding tube. He took that as a sign from God that He had something bigger planed for this gentleman. He went home and lived as “normal” of a life as he possibly could considering his “condition.”

 

 

At the end of his talk with us he sat down at a grand piano and played a piece by Mozart (I believe that was it) and got a standing ovation from several THOUSAND FFA members from around the country. This is just one example of how people make lemonade when they are dealt a bunch of lemons in life.

Friday’s Blessings 11/21/08

• Gas is down below $2.00 a gallon here.  Thank God for that, for a while there it was pretty hairy and not fun at all.  I just wonder how long it will last?  I can remember when I thought $1.47 a gallon was SUPER expensive to be paying for gas.
• Went to the dentist on Wednesday….a much more “enjoyable” experience than the last dentist I was at.  I have to get my wisdom teeth pulled but I guess that’s a “small” price to pay.
• I haven’t heard from a single soul all week and it feels GREAT.  Some times my brother calls me just to annoy me and he’s really great at it to say the least.
• I’m just about done with all of my Christmas shopping!
• I don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but Hugh Jackman was named People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive.”  He’s defiantely not bad to look at that’s for sure.
• The weather has been really not the greatest around here…cold has heck with occasional snow showers thrown in to shake things up a bit…..the upside is that there are only a little over 3 months or so until it starts getting nice again!

An Open Letter to “Mother Nature”

Today is open letter day on SITS, here is mine.  Short and sweet.  I actually wrote this awhile ago but never actually posted it.

Dear “Mother Nature,”

Why must you do this to me?  I really don’t enjoy being “tortured” for several days once a month – I really hate the “Beached Whale” feeling too.  I’m sure that the people around me don’t enjoy me becoming a borderline homicidal manic either.   I Though they all seem to have a death wish at the time.  So please explain to me why we women have to suffer like this?  It’s totally uncool and quite frankly it’s borderline cruel.  So I’m going to hold a long-time grudge and leave you with this……To quote Happy Bunny…..You Suck and THAT’s Sad.
